Hi all,

I have been correcting and translating Metals between French and English side, but I cannot find what is right here: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces44048.html

English side is Silver (.458) while French side is Argent (.934). Which one is right and which one is wrong?

Best Regards,
Jarek

According to Wiki, Spanish Netherlands didn't exist until 1581, so how can there be coins before the country (Area) ..

But my question would be: Why is there a French side and an English side to the Numista database (Catalog) .. ??

Yes there are coins that does not belong there.

And why two sides? It has always been like that..

Numista started (under a different name) in March 2007 as a French site,
then (one month and half) later added an English version ...

so in 8 months will be the 10-year anniversary. 8)

2007 .. Then the question really should be: After 8 years, why is there "still" a French side and an English side to the Numista database (Catalog) .. ??

OMG, do I really have to start a new thread for my question?

No, I thought that I answered your question. The coin in question is not a Spanish Netherlands coin ..

Question is whether the coin is Silver (.458) or (.934) .

Sorry, that does not help on coin purity. :(

Verify the history on the coin page and check the sources.
What should I do if Kenny approved both changes? 8. :D Of course if it is not a bug only.

It's a shame that we don't save sources în history, so we know just who approved the changes.
this site seems to indicate that it's .618

"4 stivers 1544. 5,982 gram Silver 6,12 grams - 0.618 Ø 31mm

or that it's .252?

"Half stiver, groat, undated Silver 1,83 GRAM - 0,252 (1544-52). Ø 25mm

x. Damn, this one is tough, we have four different possible values now.

not that i know if either one i posted is actually the coin in question ;)

what is the actual coin? shouldn't it be deleted, since it couldn't have been minted that early?
Thanks,
noah
It will be eventually moved to the right place. :)

Karl in 1516, as archduke before he was Karl V, issued coins with names and law of the silver coins of his Spanish grandparents: 1, 1/2 and 1/4 real (.931).

In 1521, as emperor Karl V, issued new coins with names karolus and double karolus and law .458. But the common names were 1/2 real and real.

Then this coin is a 1/2 real or karolus made of silver(.458).

The mistake is to confuse the two coins. The 1/2 real as archduke and the 1/2 real as emperor.

Many thanks! Once I get to PC, I will fix it! B)
