I have found strange the grouping of all the coins issued in the Italian peninsula before the Italy Kingdom grouped together. The so called Italian states were completely independent states with different kind of coins, and perhaps it should be better to split these coins distinguishing the various states, moreover the names of such states are not very precise, for example it never heard about a state called Castro, neither Cagliari.
Kind regards from Italy

Indeed these are state names, and should be uused in the catalogue. We never mention any of these states using only the town/region name, but with the full name including the kind of statal organization
What you'll see on Numista as Italian States includes different types of historic states of Italy like duchy, county, republics, bishoprics, kingdoms, etc.
Hello,
In general, those categories called "xx states" are non totally satisfactory mix of "states" of different status geographically located in xx area.
There should be in the future some change in the way that can be handled, but in the meantime, we can just try to use the current structure the best we can.
You can look at german, austrian or other examplesto have a better idea.

Just small corecture:
"There will be" instead of "There should be"
Shall I stull take care of the name changes?
- Duchy of Castro
- Giudicato of Cagliari
I am looking forward to the new tree structure in order to group all the sections more effectively. If you're not well-informed the catalogue looks like a labyrinth.
