Is there any way to block a member from PMing you?
A certain member who has been banned from posting in the forum is still sending me inappropriate messages.

Would it be possible to implement a block list?
Whereby, I don't get the message, but he gets a response saying he's not allowed to PM this member?

I appreciate a blanket ban wouldn't work (banned from posting, banned from PMing), just in case the member has outstanding swaps.

Thanks.

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
Such feature (unfortunately) does not exist. On the other hand, this will have to go up to Xavier. Please, resend me those messages to PM (and do the same to Xavier), I will push it upwards. (I also do not know if Xavier is still on vacation or already home)

I get them from same member as well. I asked for a 'block sender' button years ago. ``-

For me it's the first forum I ever saw without this feature. ``-

Agreed.

Never known of a banned person still able to PM on any forum in the last 10 years at least.

I'm guessing it's the kid who was spamming the Coin ID forum?

I'm always hesitant to block people as some of them might be redeemable, plus I'd like to know if they're badmouthing me! Although it nice to have the option I guess.

The idea that rules governing conduct don't apply to the Numista messaging system the same way they apply to the public forum strikes me as somewhat strange. In the case of a temporary ban it's understandable, there are outstanding swaps to be taken care of and such things which would punish the innocent party. But for those deemed worthy of a permanent ban there should be no accommodation. If someone acts in a manner that is so outrageous that he is deemed unsuitable to "contribute" in public, what is the point of allowing the nonsense to continue by copy and pasting the same drivel by mass email.

Shamikb was banned from the public forum because of his highly offensive conduct yet here he remains, carrying on his campaign of lying and slander by using the private messaging system to spew his vileness instead of the forum. It makes no sense.

Allowing well known scammers to return with a new account even after it's been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that it's the same person..... why? "Coinzdude666" or "SmartkidKG" isn't the thief, it's the sack of meat behind the ID. Creating multiple accounts* with the intent of either scamming other member or gaming the feedback system results in the removal of the secondary accounts but the primary account remains.... why?

I reckon if you took a straw poll among our members the number one issue would be scammers, at least as far as those of us who are using the swap engine. A more consistent approach to the problem, centered firmly on protecting the legitimate members, would meet with widespread approval. Does anyone care if stronger measures inconvenienced the crooks, liars and lunatics? I sure wouldn't.

* To be absolutely clear, I'm talking about fraud. Not those instances where perfectly legitimate members wish to use a second account to manage their collections.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.
