The coins have been given the mintmasters mark (privy) "sails with star" because of the fact that the current mintmaster resigned.

Mintmaster M. T. Brouwer chose the privy "sails in 2003". This symbolizes the sails of the 'Netherlands' built in 1893, one of the last three mast clipper sailing under the Dutch flag. The grandfather of mint master M. T. Brouwer was captain of that ship.
After an employment of almost 15 years, Mintmaster Brouwer end of 2015 resigned as Managing Director of the Royal Dutch Mint. Its function is taken over ad interim by Kees Bruinsma. That is why the new privy is sails with star. The star is used by KNM (Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt) (Royal Dutch Mint) for an acting mintmaster.
