Reordering Sardinian and Piedmontese coins

Pubblicazioni di 9
The current listings under Italian States -Sardinia - Scudo contain coins of both mainland Piedmont and coins solely struck for the island of Sardinia. I found an excellent Italian website with very useful information to distinguish the Sardinian from the Piedmontese coins.

The best way to distinguish is to look for the Sardinian coat of arms with the cross and the four blindfolded Moors, or with 4 smaller crosses. The coins with a Savoyard cross and eagle are Piedmontese, and were part of a different currency system.

I am in favour of moving the Piedmontese coins to 'Italian States - Piedmont - Scudo', even though it was part of the Kingdom of Sardinia.

Furthermore, I found a listing of a gold half Doppia from Piedmont with the image of a Dopietta (or half Carlino, I can't tell the size nor weight from the image)) from Sardinia:

Erroneous Numista listing:

This is the actual coin from Piedmont:

Thank you for notifying me. I shall therefore refrain myself from bothering him 8)
I wrote it kind-of mysteriously, as if he was dying or something. :° He told me he has some computer/connection problems, and does not know when this will be solved and that it might take even months.

As I suggested in the Piemonte-Sardinia topic, we should check the CNI catalog links provided by Numista.

The CNI has the answer. Vol I (Casa Savoia) pages 372 and 403 list the coins struck for Sardinia. The other coins were for Piedmont. The currency systems were different:

Piedmont:
Scudo = 35g Ag = 6 Lire
Lira = 20 Soldi = 240 Denari
Doppia = 2 Scudi
Carlino = 20 Scudi

Sardinia:
Scudo = 23g Ag = 2.5 Lire
1 Lire = 4 Reale = 20 Soldi
1 Soldo = 6 Cagliaresi
Doppietta = 2 Scudi
Carlino = 10 Scudi
I've implemented the reordering of Sardinian and Piedmontese coins. Piedmontese coins minted during the Kingdom of Sardinia are now grouped in the section 'Sardinia - Scudo Piedmontese' and their nominal values have been adapted to the Piedmontese monetary system. The Sardinian coins are left where they were, but if I could I would rename it to 'Sardinia - Scudo Sardo'.
