Pleasantries, or the lack thereof aside, he does make a good point. Patterns/essais/trial strikes are not coins; thus, IMO it would make sense to have a subsection under each country for them (admittedly I don't know how much work it would take to implement it). Is there an area for future improvements, something like a wish list, where this idea could be preserved?
Take a look at the UK catalogue https://en.numista.com/catalogue/royaume-uni-1.html It's not that difficult to do but can be time-consuming to move the records across. Can be done by referee or via modification request by creating a new 'currency' under 'Other'.
