Having just received a new Piedfort coin, I realised that the weight does not correspond to the certificate.
It weighs 41.6gms instead of 56.56gms.
I have now checked the weights of 5 East Caribbean coin and they are 40.0gms.
These are:-
$2 KM#51 Duke of Wellington
$2 KM#54 Nelson
$2 KM#57 Churchill
$2 KM#? Drake
$2 KM#? Montgomery
My question is that these coins are listed on Numista as weighing 56.56gms, thus classifying them as Piedforts, but it seems that the weight as listed may be incorrect.
Can anyone please help clarify this situation.
My newly received coin is Lord Kitchener 5 Crowns 2004 although it is from Turks & Caicos
Do you think it would be the best thing to do if I was to put in the correct weight.
I noticed that the thickness of the coins are not listed, so perhaps they are not really piedfort coins as the thickness is definitely not 6mm, which another of my piedfort coins is.
I would put in the actual weight. And then perhaps the ref can get a member to check their coins..
I have several crowns that i was surprised by...they are so thin that at first i thougjt they were struck from wrong strip. But i noticed that if they were stacked they would be similar to a standard crown...
its definately unusual...

I have been in contact with a couple of sellers who have coins, similar to those I have listed in my original message.
They have confirmed that although the certificate states 56.56gms as the weight, the coins only weigh around 41gms.
It therefore seems this is an error across the complete series.
This morning, I received 6 more of these coins, which belong to the series of 'The Great British Military Leaders' and the certificates state they weigh 56.56gms, but in fact they weigh around 40gms.
They seem to have been minted by the Westminster Mint and I have sent an e-mail to them requesting an explanation.
If they are anything like the last time I made a request for information, they refused due to the fact that I did not buy them direct from the mint.
I will post any answer I receive.
I came across this topic while searching online. I also have in my collection the 5 Crowns coin from Turks and Caicos Islands 2004 with Lord Kitcherner. I think it is an error coin. Can you maybe put a photo up of the certificate of authenticity of that coin (if you have it)?
Raf,
No, I do not have the certificate. The seller was selling the Turks and Caicos coin, which I won, but it was delivered with the Eastern Caribbean certificate, which depicts the same reverse.
I am still none the wiser as to what has happened to create this error.
I have contacted many sellers, who have coins of the 'Great British Military Leaders' series for sell, and they all confirm the weight of approximately 40gms, although the certificate states 56.56gms.

Received another of this series this morning and it also weighs 40gms.
Added it to Numista and waiting for validation of it plus the other six coins I added earlier of the same series.
Also, modified the weights of the five coins already on the website from 56.56gms to 40.0gms.
Waiting for referee to validate these modifications as well.
