Hi everyone
I have just finished updating the Australian part of the catalogue in regards to $5 decimal coins. However I have only dealt with the Crown sized (38.74mm) $5 coins that are made from base metals. These $5 coins are all classed as NCLT and are usually produced in very low mintages. Although the first one produced in 1988 had a high mintage of 3,000,000.
There are currently 60 different coins in the above category and when I started the update I think that there were less than half of those listed on Numista. A lot were missing completely, some were missing images and some were very poorly described. Now Numista has them all, and all fully described. These are the 58 Aluminium-bronze versions....

There are 2 other base metal $5 coins but they are made from Copper-nickel, one of them was produced by the Perth Mint (The Eureka one)....

Strangely the Royal Australian Mint sometimes issued smaller (28.12mm)$5 bi-metallic coins, I don't have any of them in my collection, but Numista does have them all listed with fairly good images.

There are other Australian $5 coins but they are made from Silver and Gold and are classed as Bullion coins. I don't collect those so have not even attempted to update those. They are all produced by the Perth Mint.
I would like to thank the Australian Referee for checking my work and making corrections where needed.
Enjoy - Mike
