since that coin also exist without the stars, maybe the mother die had no star and every time it was used to produce a star production die, they punched in the star without thinking about ois orientation? Thus we can deduce that they used 4 (at least) different production dies, right? About the high M in Michaux I have no idea....

Ole: I picked up this coin and I believe I know why the high M in Michaux got that way - They were hand punched.

yes, you're certainly right. The original die was with the ALL the letters of the same size in MICHAUX, but the "M" was there, and then somebody decided to over punch the "M" with a bigger "M". You can actually see both a part of the small and the full large "M" on the coins.......

Do you know if the large "M" can happen on all the star variants or not?

That would be an interesting observation. I will keep an eye out for them. I wonder if some of the Belgium members could shed some light on this interesting coin? Ed
