I have a 1 keping coin from the Pontianak Sultanate located in West Borneo. Should I try to add it under Netherland East Indies or Malay Peninsula? The coin is not listed in my 2012 copy of Krause but is listed on NGC under Netherland East Indies.
It was a tributary state in Borneo, should be under Malay peninsula (a country that should be renamed to Malay states maybe). Think of the coin as an Indian states coin. Dutch duiten and gulden were issued for general use, much like EIC coinage, while tributary coinage, which often had British titles coming into the 19th century, are listed separately. This is why tin pitis and copper keping are listed separately.
