First let me say that I am new to the site and I am happy that I found a website like this again. A long time ago I used to be a member of a forum called "Andy's..." something, I don't remember its full name but it was a place where you can trade stuff like coins, postcards etc. and I can't wait to get started swapping again.
well anyways back on topic,
I need help with an Australian 1 Penny (George VI without "IND:IMP") coin. My coin has the date of 1952 on it and I don't quit get the no dot after "PENNY", is it just a normal dot (.) after the word "PENNY"?.
cause mine don't have a dot (.) after the word "PENNY" but it does after "AUSTRALIA" .
The coin is not a PROOF but a circulated one I think. Got it at the my local Flea Market for 2 bucks.
It looks like you have found something that needs to be corrected for this coin (KM#43) as well as KM#50. The dot is the mint mark for Perth, and was placed after the word PENNY from 1941-1951, and again from 1954-1964. From 1952-1953, however, it was placed after the word AUSTRALIA (like your coin).
For the site admins, based on Krause...
KM#43 comments should be corrected for the two 1952 dated Melbourne coins to:
no dot after "AUSTRALIA"; Melbourne Mint; Proof
no dot after "AUSTRALIA"; Melbourne Mint
KM#50 comments should be corrected for for all coins to change "PENNY" to "AUSTRALIA"
