Should colonial coinage be in a separate issuer to their post-independence equivalent?

I noticed today that we have 'Portuguese Timor' and 'Timor Leste' as two issuers under Timor Leste, while Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Cabo Verde and Sao Tome and Principe have Portuguese era colonial coins AND modern post-independence coins under the same issuer. We also have 'Italian Eritrea/Somaliland' as separate issuers to 'Eritrea' and 'Somalia' respectively.

In short, I was wondering if we should separate colonial issues or unite already separated colony-country issuers? It would be better to have as consistent a policy on this as possible about colonies that correlate directly to a modern country. Personally I would be in favour of uniting, but I can see arguments for otherwise.
They should be listed in a subsection.

The coins of Portuguese Timor belong under 'East Timor'.

The name 'Timor Leste' is actually Portuguese for 'East Timor'.

1997 definitive types belong under the Hong Kong S.A.R. listings, but the 1997 commemorative 10 Cents to 10 Dollars belong under the Colony of Hong Kong listings,as does the 1993-96 definitive coins.

I feel like Numista made a wrong decision by assigning the colonies to modern countries. It may look ok to have India-British, India-French and so on under India, but if you think about it, it's a complete mess.

Think of this: India-British included India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. But it's only under India category now. The most fair decision would be to move it under the UK.

As I see it:

All the colonies should be separate issuers under their 'owning' country, therefore Italian Eritrea and Italian Somaliland could become separate sections under Italy, while India - British and so on would be under the UK. All the French colonies should be moved inside of the France, just like Guadeloupe.

A stupid idea!

Krause does it the right way - putting colonial issues in subsections for the country before the countries post-independence coins.

I think this is a pretty good idea, and would push for it in Numista if not for correlation to the Krause catalogue (for the sake of numismatic reference) and to be honest Krause isn't completely infallable either, right?

Country list sorting.... when that will be, I do not know, but these discussions will become obsolete after that.

Thanks Jarcek.
The country list sorting seems to go on forever, no?
Yup, Xavier is kind of "busy" at the moment. But I do not want to start moving countries and make it a bigger mess.

That's a very good and wise decision. Why make things more complicated than they should be?

Whole idea is to make country list more manageable and configurable.

One of the features would be checkboxes for some searches. Some for historical epochs - like medieval, or modern, some for continents and few for colonial empires. Clicking on some of those will hide or show parts of country list.

One small feature would be also expand all/collapse all for all the subsections.

A nice hidden feature will be new search words. For example, you could start typing "great brit.." and it would show United Kingdom, or USA would show United States. This would solve some obvious naming problems as well - Burma/Myanmar for example.

And maybe we could get an option for saving "our own" country list search settings. So you could open country list of only those countries you are interested in and save it for later use.

I opened a thread suggesting North Borneo be changed to British north Borneo, but it seems to not have changed yet... I mean, this one it's not that big of a change, right Jarcek? :°

Similar issue would be renaming 'East Africa', 'British East Africa'. While some of their coins only said "East Africa" some of them said things like "East Africa Protectorate" or "East Africa & Uganda Protectorate" so 'British East Africa' for this country makes sense.
