In the Numista catalog, the denier of Richard the Lionheart has an Omega at the bottom of the obverse.

I guess it's the same letter : the lowercase omega ( ω ) looks like a w sometimes

It almost looks like conjoined horseshoes!!

The Spink catalog on English coins indicates that Richard's name does not appear on any of the coins of England; it only appears on those of Aquitaine and Poitou. (English coins say Henricus.)
