My photographs of this coin look better than those already on the coin page. Would you like me to change them?

8th January: Mesopotamia

Basically a slow day, everyone's probably waiting for Mexico. :°
Since no one has Mesopotamia, I'm starting Mexico a little early:

9th January: Mexico

Mexico - Angel 1 ounce - 2008

Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins

For Mexico, a little something from the Spanish colonial era:

179? MO Mexico 8 Reales - Carlos IV
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces18852.html
Lots of Chinese/East Asian chopmarks on this coin, last digit of date is also gone.

And not a colonial coin, but a remnant of it;

1893 MO Mexico 8 Reales
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces7394.html
This type confused me when I was recording it in my collection, because it was denominated in Reales, while the Mexican currency since 1863 had been the peso; and it took me some research to find out that the 8 reales denominated coins were so familiar that they continued being made until 1897.
Ah, Mexico lindo y querido.

1946, 1 Centavo:

10th January: Mexico - Revolutionary

Looks like I have a new issuer to get!
1915, 10 Centavos, Ejercito Constitucionalista - Estado de Chihuahua: (a lot more fun if you pronounce it "Chee-who-a-who-a")

1946 Monaco 10 Francs - Louis II
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces803.html
Monaco remained a safe place for persecuted people after the fall of France in June 1940, but when the "free zone" administered by Vichy was occupied by the Axis in November 1942, Monaco was occupied by Italy, and then by Germany following the coup of 25 Luglio (June) 1943 that deposed Mussolini. Prince Louis himself had been a fan of Pétain's government, but even then he interestingly allowed the Monegasque police to warn people the Gestapo was about to arrest.

It's my only Mongolian coin so far- I've been looking out for some of it's other pre-1940 contemporaries so it can have some friends. Alas, none in my price range. x. (Mongolia is kind of like a cheaper Tannu Tuva in this era).

16th January: Montenegro
Montenegro -- 1 perper, 1914:

1906 Montenegro 10 Para - Nikolai I
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces9853.html
This coin I found in a junk bin way back in 2012, when I was a beginner who'd only bought it because it was old and I'd never seen it before- I only found out where it came from over two years later.
