I think I have the same AE die letter. I must admit the difference with AB is small.

The similar issue is with Isle of Man 2002 and 2003 1p. I'm not sure if the AB version exists (no exist in Southall IOM coins catalogue) but a lot of users claim they have it (I guess they have AE and not AB). Recently, I found AB on swap, so I did swap to receive AB but instead I received AE. In addition, the letter E is a double minted so it's very similar to the letter B.

PS. And I guess your Gibraltar AE photo is good enough. You can add it as example.

In this case it is probably easiest to distinguish both by the placement of the A, that clearly differs between AB and AE on the 1995 coin

Yes, that true. Just noticed it: distance between letters on AB is much smaller than between AE.
