Hi,
Can anyone please help me understand why this coin was minted in 1954?
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces7741.html
9 Years later seems odd to me. I would understand it if they would have minted it for the 10th aniiversary i.e. 1955.
I know it is seems insignificant, but I somehow want to know about this.
Thanks.

:)
Thanks.
But I guess 1954 WOULD be the 10th time the island folks would have been celebrating the liberation.
I seriously think numista is the best damn place for mint-heads like us.
Cheers.

The "LIBERATED 1945" was basically a standard type since 1949. It has no association with the anniversary of liberation or anything like that. Just a placeholder text with no real meaning for the coin overall.
