When I enter items into the catalog in the "tokens" category the index is not changing from 100 to 97. However, the coins I have just entered instantly go to 97. I waited a couple of days for everything to update and tokens validated in June 20 are still at 100 even showing my piece.
Yes, agreed - I created this page over a week ago for myself and a member,
and we have both marked it as being in our collection, but is still shows 100 ... https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces169672.html
I created entries for 3 German beer tokens on the same day (June 20) and 2 of them show 97 and the other 100, so it is only affecting certain pages, even within the same category.
Rarity index not functioning! Should we take that seriously?
It only gives a general perception afteral.
As long term collector and digger of coins I still ask myself what precisely define the rarity of a coin.
In other words there are far to much aspects that need to be taken in consideration.
My thoughts go automaticly to mint marks, variations, counterstamps, age, number of coins issued, unexpected/unknown melting of silver and gold coins and the individual perception of every single one of us.
Resuming: what's the exact value of a rarity index?
Sapientiae plerumque stultitia est comes.
Si c'est un grand plaisir d'être reconnu par ses amis, c'est peut-être encore plus flatteur d'être reconnu par ses adversaires.
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
