When I look around in the country section 'Sweden' (and I'm probably the only one who uses it on a regular basis, who else is that crazy to collect Sweden?? ) I notice that quite some information is missing, more specifically: unregistered, but confirmed variations.
Now, I was wondering 1) if it might be interesting/useful to add those variations, because it could be interesting for collectors who don't know them, and can have in some cases quite valuable coins without knowing it; and 2) the best way to add them: modify the page myself or should I post the variations here and leave the modification to the Numista team?
Of course I only can do this for Sweden, I don't have a clue of all other countries. I think other members should do the same for their specialty (if it's a non-frequent country, I don't doubt that the most important countries are complete). Detail: I noticed also that Krause doesn't mention a these variations.
I would like to see those varieties - means
1) could you make a list right here, maybe even with corresponding KM# or links?
2) could you upload some images right here to show what the varieties look like in comparison
to "normal" issues?
I would be glad to register them - but we have to be sure if they are really varieties or
minor differences due to different worn / old dies ... whatever.
That is - we had similar requests for belgian francs / frank coins a while ago.
that was about the size of the rim and depth of edge imprints. we found out that it wasn't really
a variety.
do you have access to special catalogs about swedish coins?
In general, I think it would be great to build this into the most trustworthy database, so in my understanding and experience (only here for about 10 days) the Numista Team really does a lot to achieve that, however as this is built on selfish sharing, I think we all should contribute.
@ Makake77: these varieties are listed in my Swedish catalog. If
@ Imreh: here are all not listed varieties from 1873 till now:
1 öre
1873: half L in LA. (mintmark)
1873: SVFERIGES and half L
(Note: I believe that this coin and it's varieties isn't on Numista yet, but I also don't have a copy to put on the site so I suggest to keep it as reserve untill someone puts it on the site)
1890: overdate variety (1890 on 1880)
1959: 5' 9
2 öre
1881: overdate variety (1881 on 1811)

5 öre
1882: overdate mentioned, but maybe interesting that it can be 1872 or 1881 that is overpunched
1898: it says 'varieties exists' it's about the edges on the inside of the large crown on the front: it can be with 4 or 7 edges
1910: the 5 öre 1910 exists with the same narrow and wide base mintmark as the 1911 5 öre coin, if you have a 1910 coin with a wide base it's fake.
1964: mentioned, but in fact it's '5O'
10 öre
1873: The V in SVERIGE is like an A upside down
1920: the large mintmark W is mentioned, but the W can have hooks (very rare) or not (rare)
1945: mintmark TS with hooks
25 öre
1936: broken mintmark G
1937: 'large G' has the known mintage of 3.258.956 ex.
1937: extra variety: broken mintmark G
1945: large TS with hooks
50 öre
1907: broken knot
1 krona
1881: with ones like 1880 (mintage unknown)
1881: with ones like 1883 (mintage 619.147, the mentioned quantity)
1889: with lock of hair below NO is not very rare but unique
1901: overdate variety (1901 over 1898)
1915: overdate variety exists (1915 over 1914)
1924: with dots between all ciphers of the date

1968: exists with lions without tail
1969: exists with lions without tail
1970: exists with lions without tail
5 kronor
1954: with/without edge lettering
1955: with/without edge lettering
1971: with/without edge lettering
1972: without lines on the background behind the lions in the shield
Thanks! (is this a record in late responding?) I switched off the forum reply option in settings, and I think in this case it's proven that it can be dangerous, I just forgot to check for new messages all that time!
@Kräftskiva
List is very compleet but 3 errors in the translation
5 kr 1954, 56, 71
There are two variants:
Position A: Coins with portrait down with edge
lettering.
Position B: Coins with portrait side up with edge lettering.
or somthing like, it because the edge lettering is reversed.
variants are always interesting, specially if you have images of them?
Here you can see the Swedish variants I've documented so far:
1 Kr 1967
1 öre 1864LA
2 öre 1926
2 öre 1949
2 öre 1964, but I'm still missing the "variant", so if anybody can supply images of it, please do?
10 öre 1956
and actually I collect the Swedish coins by year and mint.... so yes, I find them interesting! BTW, I have for the moment some 100 Swedish doubles, which will go into my doubles list (Excel) during the next weeks.
first one: probably not very easy to find out on your own coin, some length differences +- 0.1 mm could also originate from worn out dies...
second: error coin, not a variant
third: I can't see any difference at all, it seems to me you drew different lines to the same coin
fourth: okay, big difference also at the space to the left of the 4
sixth: okay
