Hello,

Even only on the first page of Coin identifications and valuations there are plenty of threads with the names which tells nothing about what is inside.
  • Unknown coin 1
  • Unknown coin 2
  • Coin identification
  • Can you help me
  • Identifying coin
  • 2 unknown old coins
  • Coin identification
  • Unknown coin
  • 3 coins I gave up on.
  • coin identification
  • Old coin
  • please help identify this, coin? token?
  • is this a coin ???
  • Small silver coin?

I propose to add some kind of automatic script which will send authors of such topics to read Rules and guidelines for identification requests when they push a Send button instead of creation a topic. Or just simply ask to make more informational headings and check all the other issues like good photos of both side etc.

The problem with this suggestion is that in many of those cases the title really does contain all (or nearly all) that the poster is sure of. Disallowing those threads would discourage people who have completely (or almost completely) no idea what exactly they have from posting their coins for ID on Numista at all.
(Meanwhile, people who do have an idea what they have are often better off researching the area in more detail by themselves instead of asking on Numista, so we'd mostly just get the people who did look it up and still couldn't find anything, which in many cases means that the Numista community might not be able to help that much either.)

For what it's worth, as far as I understand it, the "small silver coin" thread was following the rules just about perfectly.
Perhaps they should have put "found in Croatia" (and/or "with cross?" or something) into the title, but IMHO this is probably asking too much (and might result in overly bloated titles).

(Mind you, I certainly agree about good photos of each side - identifying a coin without good photos is a pain - but this isn't exactly something that one can put in the title, anyway.)
I believe people can find a difference e.g. between Arabic and non-Arabic, old and modern, with cross and with a tree, gold and aluminum. If I'm not a specialist in Arabic coins, I won't open an Arabic thread....

Medieval coin with cross is quite a good description. I will not open))

I believe this is some kind of respect to other Numista members which want to help...
