Link Rulers in Different Countries [Risolto]

Hello! An idea:

When I search for coins of a monarch, say Carlos III of Catalonia, I'd like to also get the coins issued by Karl VI of Austria - it's the same person.

I suppose for coins of Elizabeth II issued in all the Commonwealth it's a bit dull, but for older coins, this would be an interesting feature.

The Search should show the results for Carlos III at the top, as they are, and then show "Coins issued by X in other states:"


Or maybe just give a link to the other search results, a bit like how the coin references work now.

How does it work? How are the different names of each ruler related?

Based on the Wikidata IDs. If it's the same person, it will have the same ID

In the database, we create one ruler per issuer, even if they are the same person. The reason is that they may have different names and different ruling dates per issuer. When possible, we map the rulers with their Wikidata ID. This ID serves as the reference to link the rulers which are actually the same person.

Some of the rulers from 1603 to 1702 in the British Isles also have different ordinal numbers;

King James VI of Scotland - the same man as King James I of England & Ireland.

King James II of England & Ireland - the same man as King James VII of Scotland.

King William III of England & Ireland - the same man as King William II of Scotland.
