Surely it is already split, or am I being dumb? Go to the Catalogue tab and you can browse and search coins or you can browse and search banknotes. Also, if you go to the My collection tab you can view My coins or My banknotes - I don't see a problem.
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

The problem is, that in the forum, you can NOT see, if a question concerns coin or notes.....

Ole
For example, it’s now not clear to me where I could help. I have nothing to do with banknotes, but now the forum has a lot of requests regarding banknotes. Should I read all this? But I don’t have enough time for everything.
Cita: "galor"Hey,
I would agree on creating 2 distinctive forums topics for :
- Numista Catalog - Coins & Tokens
- Numista Catalog - Banknotes
But I'm not sure about creating other forum parts for "exonumia", "wallets"...
Best regards,
Galor
It's becoming a night mare for a COIN collector to find the COINS ONLY topics in the forum
I don't care to read all the comments and questions NOT concerning COINS, it's really a waste of time for me.
Cita: "CGeorge"Ummmmm... The Forum has a banknote section. I would agree with you though that there should be a coin section as there is a banknote section.
I'm not sure how to move a thread but I've seen an admin do it before. I would ask someone to move it to the Numista Website section on the Forum and select the check box "Suggesting an idea to improve Numista".
Or maybe try editing your original post and maybe you will have the option to move it to a new thread?
I agree on the principle to better differentiate posts related to coins and posts related to banknotes on the forum.
My only doubt regarding the suggestion to split the forum section "Numista Catalog" in two is that some requests impact both sides of the catalogue. For example, should we discuss merging modern France and the Kingdom of France on the coin section or the banknote section?
I see two possible solutions:
Either we indeed split "Numista Catalog" in two, and we accept that some discussions which impact both sides will be discussed only on one side.
Either we split only the type of request "Request about coin and banknote pages" into "Request about coin pages" and "Request about banknote pages" (as suggested by Cyrillius). We would also start showing the type of request on the list of topics, so you can easily ignore the Requests about banknote pages and the Requests about banknote issuing entities.
We could also keep the "Request about coin and banknote pages" option when the request concerns both of them while also adding the other two split requests.
Hello.
I would like to see two sections of the forum, for coins and banknotes separately. Otherwise, the forum will cease to be "numismatic."
And this does not apply to my request for tickets, it seems just the obvious separation of tickets.

I do agree to this, wholeheartedly, notes are just paper until you decide to collect them, which I will never do (and what about stamps while we're at it)

I also agree on this. I am very scared to think what will maybe the next stap, stamps...or beerbottlecaps or....I am afraid we are on a downwards spiral if there are not separate sections for coins and other stuff...

don't forget the champagne capsules, the match boxes, the camembert boxes and everything else, which people might collect. This is no longer the Numista I liked some years ago.....
Going further, I believe that the 3 following forum sections should be kept for coins and tokens only:
Numismatic questions
Coin identifications and valuations
Swaps and trades
Do you agree they should be renamed to better reflect that?
Coin discussions
Coin identifications and valuations
Coin swaps and trades
Then perhaps the forum index could be rearranged for more clarity, so we can have a group of forum sections dedicated to coins (the 3 above + the coin catalogue + MPCC), a group of sections dedicated to banknotes and (banknotes + banknote catalogue) and a group for generic sections (website + free discussion).

In the subject there could be an automatic icon in the margin of each new subject
And the presentation of the forum in three columns But let's be sure that Xavier will find the best solution.
Cita: "CGeorge"Hi Xavier... There is a new most popular banknote contest included with the MPCC.
https://en.numista.com/forum/topic95016.html
Should there be a separate forum section for MPCC and the Most popular banknote contest?
I didn't notice that banknotes were already in MPCC. I'll let the choice to the MPCC organizers.
There are now distinct request types for coins and banknotes modifications requests via the forum.
Overall I am 100% in line with the opening words of this topic:
"Some people collect COINS
Some people collect NOTES
Some people collect BOTH coins and notes."
I would like that those 3 types of people feel comfortable on Numista, and especially the first type, since Numista was originally done for coin collectors and, because of that, most of us are using Numista for coins only.
I tried to make the addition of banknotes on Numista the less disturbing as possible for collectors of coins only, while still allowing people to use Numista for both coins and banknotes at the same time.
Feel free to post new suggestions wherever you feel that banknotes are preventing you from using Numista for coins only.
