Hello! I've noticed a missing currency, that being the Ionian drachma. From what I can tell, only banknotes were issued, and no coins. They were issued under the Italian occupation of the Ionian islands in the Second World War, occupied from 1941 to 1943. There are already notes added to the site from during the occupation, but none of them have the right currency as of now.
It mentions this on the Wikipedia page of the Greek drachma. "During the German–Italian occupation of Greece from 1941 to 1944, catastrophic hyperinflation and Nazi looting of the Greek treasury caused much higher denominations to be issued, culminating in 100,000,000,000-drachma notes in 1944.[19] The Italian occupation authorities in the Ionian Islands printed their own currency (Ionian drachma)."
Oh, I'd also like to add one more bit of information to this. Notes P#153 to 155 from Greece were overprinted notes P#M14, 15 and 17, with values of 20, 100 and 500 Drachmai respectively. Here's what's mentioned on Bank Note Museum about it:
"After the liberation of Greece the ship, underway with the supply of new bank notes, sank. So it was decided to overprint old Italian occupation Drachma until another shipment arrived".
What's interesting is that these overprinted notes only seen to have been issued in Corfu, and nowhere else. My references are:
The Ionian Islands listing with the colonial Union Jack Ensign should be for those issues between 1810 & 1863.
The post-1864 Ionian Islands listings should be in a section using whatever flag replaced the colonial flag after coming under the Kingdom of Greece's rule.
Thanks! Now there's a proper currency for most of the bills. However, for the notes starting in P#S___ issued much earlier I believe used 3 currencies. For P#S111 to 131 I believe the pound sterling was used, for P#S135 to 139 the Kolonata was used, and for P#S140 to 152, the Greek drachma was used.
