Hi, am new here but quite enjoying seeing my coins so well organised and all info so easily available at the end of my fingertips. Much better than an excel sheet.

However, a collection’s weight should be AWG, not the gross weight, right? I mean, the gross weight is meaningless for the purposes of any possible collecting goal. Even for a gross evaluation, the gross weight is pretty useless. Maybe I am not seeing things right. Tks

Hello,

Could you please clarify what AWG means?

Let me still try to answer your question. The dashboard of your coins shows 2 types of weight:
  • The "Total collection weight". This is displayed just as a fun fact. I indeed see no purpose for a collecting goal, except maybe for choosing a shelf which should be strong enough.
  • If you have precious metals in your collection, the dashboard also shows the actual precious metal weight for each metal. For instance, if you have a coin of 10 grams made of silver .900, this will show as "Actual silver weight: 9 g". This can give an indication of the price of the metal in your coins, and the price is actually shown next to it. Of course, this price is not necessarily relevant, since some coins may have a value much higher than the silver or gold content in it.
Tks, awg = average weight of gold. got it now, tks for your explanation.
