Unless its under some other descriptor already, can we please have the following additional Catalogue reference added in the Banknote drop down list of reference Numbers.

We need to add 'Gra' (Gra #) - short for Hans L. Grabowski who has multiple Notgeld catalogues published e.g. "Deutsches Notgeld, Band 5 + 6: Deutsche Kleingeldscheine: Amtliche Verkehrsausgaben 1916 - 1922"

Hello
this was added:
DeNG 5/6 #
Best regards
:wiz:
Many thanks for adding, but no-one has any idea what that reference you made 'DeNG' means, so it will not be used effectively. It would be equivalent to allocating KM# under 'WC 1-5' rather than KM for example.

I also notice on Numista that there are already examples of more than one Catalog being allocated to the one reference No. (KM# being a classic example).

So instead of the approx 10 x 'DeNG' listings, can we please use the recognised Reference of:-

Gra# for bands 5&6, 9&10

Band 5 + 6: Deutsches Notgeld, Deutsche Kleingeldscheine (Change Notes): Amtliche Verkehrsausgaben 1916 - 1922 (A - K) (German) Paperback – By Hans L. Grabowski

Band 9: Deutsches Notgeld. Notgeld der besonderen Art. Geldscheine aus Stoff, Leder und sonstigen ungewöhnlichen Materialien (German) Paperback – 1 July 2005; By Hans L. Grabowski

Band 10: Deutsches Notgeld, Das Papiergeld der deutschen Länder von 1871 - 1948: Die Banknoten und Notgeldscheine, Spezialkatalog mit aktuellen Marktpreisen (Deutsch) Taschenbuch – 15. März 2006; By Hans L. Grabowski

For examples of Gra# use around the Numismatic world...

https://colnect.com/en/banknotes/list/country/559-German_Notgeld/series/243468-Nesselwang/catalog/1129-Grabowski

and, can we please use the recognised Reference of:-...
GrM# for bands 1&2,

Band 1: A - K, Band 2: L - Z Deutsches Notgeld. Deutsche Serienscheine 1918 - 1922. In 2 Bänden: By Grabowski, Hans L. und Manfred Mehl:

For examples of GrM# use around the Numismatic world...
https://colnect.com/en/banknotes/list/country/559-German_Notgeld/series/243933-Laage/composition/1-Paper

and...
Mehl#
already exists on Numista for the following...
Band 4: Deutsches Notgeld, Die Notgeldscheine der deutschen Inflation 1922. Mit aktualisierten Bewertungen (Deutsch) Taschenbuch – 15. Dezember 2003; by Manfred Müller

Band 12: Deutsches Notgeld. Das Wertbestandige Notgeld der Deutschen inflation 1923/24 inflation; by Manfred Müller

so these need to be de-listed from DeNG 4 & 12 abd added to Mehl# on Numista

Many thanks

Hello,

Yes, I see your points!

The entire reference database is going through a big update currently, and all different books are assigned to distinct codes. RPC was recently split for example. If two volumes are part of a unitary work, like Gra 1+2, then they can stay together with one code.

So based on this, what distinct codes would you use for Gra 5+6, 9 and 10 ? it could be Gra 1/2#, Gra 9# ?

Mehl# is currently a different reference on Numista:
Mehl# Herbert Reyer; Die Münzen des Bistums Hildesheim. Teil 1, Hildesheim. Mehl, M.
So we cannot use it. other suggestions?

That being said, it would still be nice to keep the 13 volumes of the series connected in the code somehow. Would NG Gra# work for you for example? The Recognizable part "Gra" is there, + there is anyway a tool-tip showing the reference.

Best

Thanks for the consideration, its a bit tricky.

I think that Gra 1/2#, Gra 9# etc. could work, but I can't see how "NG Gra#" would work.

The moment we move away from the recognised code reference, we have inconsistency with the Numismatic world knowledge. As per my earlier analogy, it would be like making the KM# a 'WC KM#' - and no-one then knows what to look up.This issue is even more relevant when taking the different languages of various users into account - as putting an English acronym abbreviation in advance of the recognised reference No. may never occur to a non-English language user to think of.

So I'd recommend... that whatever we do on Numista with the KM# , P# across their multiple catalogs and authors, we apply that principle to all Catalogs, which appears to be... use Only the Number reference system in the catalog and group the catalogs which use that number reference under that number reference.

If you have to put some differentiation in place, that should go after the recognised reference e.g. Gra 1/2#, Gra 9# would be found as people would be looking for Gra.

KM 1601-1700 #; or KM U #(Unusual World Coins) would be found as people would be looking for KM etc.
