Project: Compiling Indian Banknote Signatures (Part #2/n) [Risolto]

Hi,

I recently came across a forum post regarding the compilation of banknote signatures of the various nations & issuing authorities. Since I have a considerable amount of interest in the field of Indian Banknotes, I would like to compile the signatures regarding the same.

The following are the issuers which have issued banknotes for the Indian Subcontinent (present day India):
1. India, Republic of
2. India- British
3. India- Portuguese
4. India- French
5. India- Princely States //This category does not have any reliable cataloging. Thus it would be helpful if others pitch in with their support by means of scans of notes and signatures.

Thus, any help in this regard will be highly appreciated- be it providing information from personal collections, scans or any advice.

In this thread, I wish to compile signatures from India-British. I hope that this project request regarding the compilation of signatures will be implemented by Xavier/ Concerned Administrators.

#2. India- British (Raj/Crown Rule)

The banknotes of the British Crown Rule in India were issued as promissory notes by the Secretary of the Government of India in the name of the crown. They beared the signature of the Secretary who issued notes on behalf of the government.

I hope that the topic does not get lost among the many threads in this forum. So I'm commenting on this thread. On a mission to compile the signature for all the issuers of the Indian Subcontinent- be it modern day India, or colonial currency. This post consists of the second of the n part series of my work.

Currently trying to compile the India- Portuguese banknote signatures ( Part #3/n ). If any of the readers is in possession of banknotes from the said issuer, it would be helpful if you could help me with the same by means of providing information and scans/pictures.

PS- worked quite hard to compile the listing. researched a lot of stuff. hope that this doesn't get lost for ever in the forum, but helps other collectors by expanding the numista catalog.

There are 2 notes confirmed for the Dominion of India;

1 Rupee note - K.R.K. Menon's signature.

10 Rupees note - Sir C.D. Deshmukh's signature - Asokan Capital at right replacing the portrait of King George VI.

The 10 Rupees note mentioned here is actually quite scarce - & elusive to me so far!

Just to let you know that the thread won't get lost. It just needs to be logged under the right ticket, which it is.
