Hey!
Checking the coin sheets of Argentinian coins I found that there are not Copper-Nickel coins of this coin: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6758.html
in the years 2004 and 2005!
But I can't take out the years because it's said that the sheet was verified, although there are not any known specimens!
If any moderator can change it, the better
Though you may be right - as World Coin Gallery says 1993-1995 only.
Anyone own 2004 or 2005 copper-nickel ? Or has a picture ?
Yes, but I'm pretty sure that they got confused and thought it was the AluminiumBronze one!
Neither in the Krause World Coins or in the Janson Catalog (the Argentinian specialized catalog) it's dated any 2004 or 2005 copper-nickel 5 centavos!
Or maybe they are lying! I don't know... but I can tell you, I'm Argentinian!
Cita: 0gramzmy 2010 catalog of world coins claim there is a km 109a.2 copper nickel 2004 and 2005 according to site
I have the 2012 and it says that not!
But it's not only at the Krause, it's at the Janson Argentinian Coins catalog!
Trust me, I'm Argentinian and I've never seen copper-nickel coins from 2004 and 2005 in my entire life! And it doesn't appear neither in the 2012 Krause 1901-2001 or 2001-Present, or at the Janson's Argentinian Coins Catalog!
i have no idea but this says so .i myself have a 1994 and never seen a 2004-05 but krause world coin 4th edition says this .good luck trying to get to the bottom of this :
i just read something on presentation sets from argentina and the coins are made by 7 different mints: south africa, korea ,england ,canada, france ,argentina (casa de moneda) ,brazil ,and chile so maybe they were made by one of them and never released or just for presentaion sets .just a possibility but it seemed like argentina and canada made all the copper-nickel variations of coins.

HAHA! WE'VE NEVER HAD ANY MINT SET! I'm totally sure that they don't exist! The 5 Centavos were minted in CopperNickel in the years 1993, 1994 and 1996!
If the catalog says it, I'm sure that it's an error from the Editor.
If any member has it, it must be fake or a counterfeit.
Believe me, they were never minted!
I fully agree with juanikinder; the 2004 & 2005 only exist in Cu92 Al8, minted in Argentina.
I have the Argentina catalog of H.C. Janson with all the various and variéties of the 5 centavos.
We have in Cu92 Al8:
1992 120.000.000 Mint Chile
1992 60.000.000 Mint Brasil
1992 50.000.000 Mint Canada
(not easy to see the difference between Chile and Brasil; only the canadian is darker with a thicker rim))
1993 20.000.000 Mint Mexico
2004: 30.000.000 Mint Argentina
2005: 76.000.000 Mint Argentina
In Cu75 Ni25:
1993: 90.000.000 Mint England (thin numbers)
1993: 155.500.000 Mint South Africa (thick numbers)
1994: 5.000.000 Mint South Africa (thick numbers)
1994 inc idem but magnetic
1995: 25.000.000 Mint South Africa (thick numbers)
Starting from 2006, the metal is plated steel with copper and zinc, soth edge, Mint Argentina:
2006: 23.800.000
2007: 183.000.000
2008: 114.100.000
2009: 74.000.000
2010: ?
Varieties in 2004 for the pearls, obverse/reverse = 4 combinations
2005: fault tear on the sun
2007 fault: mask or venitian mask on the sun
Consequently these 2 lines must be removed and the quantities to be forwarded to the other ones...
do you have a pdf file of the documentation of the 5 centavos coin from 1992, which you could share with me?
I have one which is light with the year like this:
and one which is darker with the year like this
on the darker one, the "2" in 1992 seems as it has a small "tail" at the bottom end of the "2"?
Can you confirm that?
Yes, I know, my images look wrong, but in reality the "darker" is really darker than the "light"!!! The rims are both 0.50 mm, which unfortunately should NOT be the case, hence my asking for a photo of the pages in the Jansen catalog.
I have no pdf, but I bought 2 UNC from sets where the seller mentioned the orign of the sets.
So I have a Canadian which is exactly similar (regarding the "2") as the darker one (photo light).
So for me this coin is the Canadian one.
For the first one, they say that it is very difficult to see the difference (between Chile and Brasil) as they use the same matrix but when I look at my Chile one, I have also a similar end of the 2 at the bottom right but smaller than the Canadian or yours seems with a "2" fully straight.
If I can find a UNC Brasil that will help.
I think yours is a Brasil one, as my Chile is slightly different.
If I can make a good scan of it I will post it.
Also the matter is now they are not circulating a lot (too small= 1/2 US cent), and the few ones we find are so bad that obviously you cannot see differences.
I managed to get hold of a Jansen catalog concerning those coins, but it did NOT help me any further, since it just mentions, as you say, that the difference is negligable....
