My question is about Luxembourg 10 Centimes 1870 the caduceus plus the Roman sword varieties

In particular, the question is about dot size and position:

Trying to understand the varieties, I looked through about 50+ coins at ebay and other sellers and found that the size and position of the dot vary significantly, not described by three positions listed. Take a look for example at one of mine:

I encountered this situation before, when catalogs say something like size and position vary continuously, which eliminates the possibility to collect varieties, because one cannot collect infinitely many variants.
My question is - where these three positions has come from as three possible varieties? Some catalog? And maybe someone would confirm my point of the amount of varieties, not limited by three.

The page does not say it is confined to three varieties (probably was amended already) and it shows catalogue info - most probable source of information presented there.
