Hello!

Diameter of this coin is 25-26mm, so it looks like ¼ franc N#8224

But on my coin the date under the bust of Henri III is 1580 (if I'm right)

And there is unclear mintmark after ‘BENEDICTVM’. It looks like a fragment of flower and cropped &

Is this the same coin, or is my coin a different variant?

Thank you so much!!!

I don't know if cgb.fr has a correct reference link to - Dy.1130 - . If it is correct, then there is a reference mistake in the numista page of 1 Franc

I need someone who has an access to the catalogue ‘Les monnaies françaises royales’ by Jean Duplessy to check this

My bad, I didn't noticed it yesturday. :( Your link actually isn't a ¼ Franc. It is 1 Franc. Also it has diameter 33mm and weight 13.9g according to 1 Franc coin.

My coin has diameter 25-26mm and a weight ~3.4gr according to ¼ Franc coin. That's why I continue to search an information about my item... :)

Any other ideas?

Oh, this looks very similar to mine! But unfortunately this side of the obverse is undefine… But I wonder if the ‘K’ mintmark is duplicated on reverse too? I tried to compare coins:

By the way this coin has a reference Dy 1132, and here is the same ¼ Franc as I pointed the first time. And numista has no 1588 variant too.

So I think you are right! My coin is the same article. I'll modify numista page and add 1580  and 1588 variants.

Thank you for your help!!

It is very interesting web-site, thank you! I've searched for other mint years and it looks like my coin is more sililar to BAYONNE mint because of shape of the portrait and digits “15xx” and the anchor symbol and ornament details on the reverse. Here is 1 Franc of BAYONNE 1580 and 1 Franc of BAYONNE 1579

THere is also this reference book:  Laf#
