Brazil 1 Real 2010 - Centre Spot

Pubblicazioni di 5 • visto 95 volte

I've just got some coins from Brazil and found a 1 Real with a centre spot (below left).  It's not quite a teenager yet (😁), but it does seem a bit unusual.  Also, three of the stars seem less defined and the three lines next to the ‘1’ don't touch the line above.  The word ‘Real’ seems thicker too, but that could be a bit of wear.

Anyone else seen something similar?  May just be an unusual cud and some mint errors.

Not sure how to respond to this but there will always be differences when comparing lightly circulated and heavily circulated coins of the same date as shown in your photo regardless of age. 14 years is a very long time for common circulated coins. How this translates to mint errors is beyond me. What I see is a heavily circulated coin with post mint damage consisting of scratches, impacts, and worn down and mottled details that is expected with a heavily circulated coin. What you describe as a cud could be simply due to some type of impact causing some indentation while pushing up some material very much like an impact crater.  It is simply impossible to explain away every detail and defect  Sorry, my opinion is that you are overthinking this.  Photos manipulated for clarity:

The spot is not an indentation as it is higher than the surrounding surface, hence my thought that it was cud.  The letters of REAL also look bigger and closer to the 2010, but I don't have the equipment to show that.

It seems there is a whole list of these sorts of variations and minor layout changes.
