It's great that this topic has gone on so long - it's obviously captured people's interest. I just went back to the map I posted in April and opened my current dashboard in another tab, flicking between the two - wicked!

I managed to pick up a 1957 1 Krone Greenland coin not too long ago for 16$~ on eBay - not too bad I thought. However colouring in the map won't necessarily be cheaper from here on in, there seems to be several countries that attract a high value for the lowest demonination of coins. Saint Pierre and Miquelon, French Guiana, Faroe Islands, Tuvalu etc.
It seem that a lot of us are missing the same strip that runs across africa. Hey, all y'all folks from Southern Europe and middle east, run down there and get us some already!!!
HI, 3 months back i had coins of 100 countries and now i have coins of 210 countries, all because of the
swaps from Numista website.
All are invited for a swap of coins with me
regards
bijitesh
I'm sure there are a number of ways Roy, but I use a 'Screen Capture' option via a graphic editor such as Irfanview. Once you've got your image, you can trim or crop it as desired. Then you just upload it to your post through the image link.
I collect one of each type. Here is my latest map:
Only really visible holes I have left are Angola and Cambodia...and Greenland I suppose.
Numista has revitalised my coin collecting hobby and I have increased my collection by over a 1000 coins and at least 3 different countries in the short time I have been using the web site.
It is good to correspond and swap coins with other collectors from all over the world. The site also enables me to identify varieties as well as types that I have not yet managed to find. I have only just found out how to use the forum (had problem with the link!!!) so I am looking forward to reading the many contributions made by other collectors. I thought that I would attempt to put an image of my Dashboard on the system so I hope it works ...............
I held off posting this until I had all of my US coins entered, which I finally finished today. I'm just missing Liechtenstein and a handful of islands to complete the map. Thanks to all those I have swapped with over the past few months, otherwise there would be a lot more missing (Africa, Asia, etc.)
Thanks also to Numista...since finding this site, I've spent more time with my coin collection than I have in years.
Here's my collection to date 2184, 926 different types from 116 countries! Appreciate that a lot of it is blue but I've been specialising an awful lot. Will be posting how I keep my coins soon too!
Your map looks great, jonathansouth. Just as a matter of interest, what are your total figures (different types, countries, etc) and how long has it taken you to get here?

My collection is visible, so you can see the breakdown of coins from my profile. I've been collecting coins sine I was a child (20 years I guess). But it's this website that really spurred me on; maybe 2000 coins collected in the last year.
Colouring in the map has proved expensive; especially with countries like Leichtenstein, Palua and Greenland.

Hello jonathansouth...I hate to do this to you, but you're missing at least one more expensive island...Puerto Rico...sorry.
Regards,
David
Damn!! I thought I was done... there's also two pacific islands that remain grey, but no name appears when I hover the mouse pointer over them - I just assumed they consisted of coins that have since been disregarded as tokens.
Cita: rferrarimDoes the Puerto Rico quarter dollar count for Puerto Rico? I have one since yesterday :)
If you're referring to the United States territorial quarter for Puerto Rico... https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6624.html
...it is minted by the United States, not Puerto Rico, and therefore listed under the United States...so it does not count. Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States in 1898, so you need something older than that.

Still trying to colour in mine as best as I can.
Just filled in Mozambique, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea and Sudan thanks to a Fabulous Floridian!
BTW, warm congratulations to mayank for such a long running thread - obviously a very popular topic with everyone.

My process of collection (all period of existing or non existing country).. If there are no period of country (like Swaziland) i always prefer to collect 4 coins. My total Number of coins 897 from 193 countries. Also focus on Republic India all issued coins .
Anyways Nice Topic
Here is my Dashboard. Very nice feature. I have 1106 different types from 169 countries. Not bad for 7 months of collecting. Now I am accepting charity from the other members to fill the gaps Cheers
Here is my map
Just joined 2 days ago, started to upload today and my objective to share it is purely motivational.
Kick me if it is not very colourful in 2 months.
I need to click 7800 coins - of which 1040 are different Hungarians and the rest is from about 150 countries.
I am specialized in Hungarian, Austro-Hungarian and Central-Eastern European coins, and I collect world coins, too.
Take this as an introduction to the community.
It seems like it is a fun place to be,

That is one awesome collection, baggasuresh! I had to think twice about following your post for fear of appearing to have a measly showing in comparison, but I just love coming back to this thread - it's like a window looking back in time. At the beginning of the thread the French and English forums were still combined and there are posts on here from members who are no longer with Numista Anyway, back to my collection; I first posted on this thread over a year ago, then again in November last year and the progress at that stage was great. It's another six months on now and it seems that progress in colouring the map has slowed somewhat but is still steady - the further on you go the harder (and more expensive) it gets. Here it is, by total number of coins (well, I had to following baggasuresh, didn't I?)

I'm a type collector, here is my progress so far:
There are 5959 coins: 5932 different types from 233 countries.
The problem with my map is that tiny region of Kaliningrad oblast (ex Danzig) draws coins of Russia, USSR, Germany (1871-1948, with notgelds!), German states, Poland and Danzig. It's a total of 606 coins. That makes my map much less colourful. I need more than 20 coins for a region to move it from blue to green.

Here's mine. It's more complete than it looks because I have coins which are from countries I don't collect but I still wish to keep so they don't fit into either the collection or swap lists.
Your online collection contains 6410 coins: 1621 different types from 158 countries.
You currently have 4953 coins to exchange.
I still have to add a few 100 Israeli coins, Euros and some modern US stuff. In addition I have over 1,000 wheat cents gathering dust in a box which I don't think I will ever get around to searching, a bucket with over 15 pounds of duplicates, culls and coins which just don't seem worth identifying and many, many rolls of BU modern US cents, nickels and dimes.
I need to build an extension or buy a house with a large basement / man cave.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Ok, so after a marathon session of cataloguing, adding a number of different types, and also completing some sheets...which was really cool! I have reached a milestone:
Hello Everyone!
I am quite new to swapping so nearing half a ton mark (49 countries) right now...but I am sure with the help of Numista and its fantastic members shall be able to reach the century mark in next few months!
Brand spankin' new here ~ found Numista during a search for an Australian coin I have. Spent an hour or so plugging in a few coins (and learning quite a bit as I went) ~ here is what I have so far:
