This is how my Dashboard looks like. I have recently started collecting coins so I don't have many and I haven't covered most of the countries.
So how's your dashboard looks like? If not too busy, I request you guys to share the snap of your dashboard too. I am sure this would be pretty exciting.
You have covered almost all the countries, How long have you been collecting coins? :)
Although I've had an interest in world coins since I was ten, my serious focus on collecting coins as a hobby didn't really start until 2005. That's when I started going to coin shows and sorting my family's spare change jars. I didn't start trading online until about six months ago.
wow! that was confusing, that link brought me to my own one! for a moment i thought you had the exact same amount! i think you copy and paste, but i havent tried it so i dont know.( i only just joined the website, uploading the whole of my collection is getting tedius)
Cita: redsmithstudiosIs this how you post your map? I don't know if this will work?
Cerulean, I have a few country's you need, Maldives, Botswana, Congo, and Korea.
You can post your map by right-clicking your dashboard map, choosing "Save Image As" and saving it somewhere on your computer, and then adding "Image" to your forum post.
If I have coins you're interested in, feel free to initiate a swap with me.
Different browsers may choose to save an image as different types. I saved mine as a PNG. You might need to import it into a graphics package and save it as a different file type (eg Jpeg), or resize it (as you can see mine is a bit too large, ahem!) or whatever.
Cita: fliegendehollanderGreenland is a gaping hole in everyone's collection.. good luck in that aspect.
Just in interest, does anyone consider buying country sets from ebay etc. cheating? I've read some comments on some other sites that thinks it is.
Cheating? That implies some competition. People collect coins as a personal matter. So, no I don't consider buying country sets to be "cheating", any more than illegally smuggling coins out of countries is cheating (some countries do not allow export of their coins/bank notes).
A set of Greenland coins costs 24 USD on ebay... Satisfaction of being the first on this chat to have coins for Greenland or lunch for a week, that is the question.

Lunch? You should waste good beer money on food? <g>
This is a very interesting exercise to see how different collectors concentrate on different themes/areas. Here is my dashboard map :-
By the way, if you look, there seems to be one member (frost) who has a Greenland coin for trade, but he doesn't appear to have any history of trading.
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

I guess you don't have grand children, then? Lucky you!

Can anyone get me a Greenland,Belarus and Afghanistan coin to make this map complete??
hello,i am kunal jindal of india,i have had over 50 successful foreign trades, please fell free to contact me for any exchange.
i offer indian coins-regular circulatory,

I don't think Belarus circulates coins... I believe they're all commemorative. Afghan coins are relatively easy to get, just search ebay.
ditto Greenland, though its rather expensive.

Hay Kunal,
I am short of loads of countries, you may check my dashboard snap and let me know if you have any double/ spare coins. Since I don't have many coins myself I wont be able to swap but don't mind purchasing them from you.
Looking at your map of coins,i can say i can get you coins from following countries for sure:
China,Australia,U.A.E,Hong Kong,Macau,and maybe more countries.
Please have a look at my doubles.
Idon't sell coins but i might exchange them with you for coins that i miss.
I miss some of the new Indian commemoratives, can you get me them?

Sorry, Sir. I don't think I can get you commemorative coins.I will try to buy missing coins from other sellers. I am sure there are other Numista members who would be happy to help me. Am I right? Anyone listening?
I did some research and found that these are unofficial 2010 pattern coins from Greenland. I guess these are fantasy coins but having said that since only 10,000 sets were issued I guess they are scarce and high in value too.
Perhaps. I am concerned, all countries, ALMOST. When I started collecting, I have set limits for myself.
First: Only a country's money, which has its own currency. Or which has its own money emissions.
Second: Preferably small face value.
Third: ONLY during the Cold War. (1945-1990)
Maybe succeeded?
Archie
wow great collection guys, they must be really rare one's. but Do we have some one who has actually collected from all parts of the world. Well You can know about the most expensive coins here http://www.bornrich.com/entry/worlds-most-expensive-coins/. This might be an interesting one for you.

The bummer about using a map as a "visual set" is that the small countries get lost. One idea is to create inset maps that are activated on mouseover. Another, how I show my own collection, is to take the "penny book" concept virtual and create a grid array. Here is how it looks on Tantalus:
In my case I wanted to make it a bit more challenging and actually only placed coins from countries I visited and got the coins while there. I've been to a few more than I have but it was so long ago I didn't bother to save the pocket change. In other cases, like for example San Marino and Zimbabwe, they just don't have their own coins.
This is how my Dashboard looks like, I have recently started collecting coins so I don't have many and I haven't covered most of the countries.
So hows your dashboard looks like?
Hmm, you know. personally, I'm paying too much attention to the dashboard map. Instead of collecting the coins I want, I find myself becoming obsessed with filling in the map. For example, suddenly I'm obsessed with finding a coin of Azerbaijan! I didn't even think about Azerbaijan until I joined this site! Heh, it's great though. It is a great touch. An extra dimension to coin collecting.

I cannot speak for San Marino, but Zimbabwe do have coins. They are just very hard to get Your hands on them. I have a 1 cent and a 20 cent from Zim in My collection. Getting a few more Zim coins tomorrow.
I have been collecting for about 6 months, so a long way to go before I can have a impressive dashboard.
So far I have 603 coins, 255 different types, 43 countries. Snapshot by total amounts of coins.
I like the dashboard-page. But i also put a forum-post about this.
Because some countries never will be colored red. For example Greenland. If you do have all the coins of Greenland (who has?) you will have 22 coins. But the US have 392 different coins. I have 75 coins of the US and my dashboard shows the US red. Even if i had all the coins of Greenland it would never be red.
So i posted on october 4th a post in which i asked for a second map which colors the countries by percentage. So if you have 22 Greenland-coins, Greenland will be red on your map.
See my post "Dashboard map: colors by rate of possible coins?" on https://en.numista.com/forum/topic4714.html
Cita: SmartOneKgPhil, that's a lot of French coins.
Are you able to swap? And that Susan B Anthony dollar joke is just hillarious.
Thanks for getting the SBA joke. Most people miss its point.
The French coins are part of a collection I took in swap from someone several years ago. I'm still building the catalog so I'm not able to swap just yet. There are about a hundred European coins to go with about half from Germany.
I'll let you know when I put the duplicates into swap.

I never meet a coin I didn't like until I saw the Susan B Anthony dollar coin.
