Another duplicate ecu.....
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces153286.html seems to be a duplicate of
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces143350.html.

153286 is the one that should be deleted in my opinion as the photos don't appear to be copper as the listing states the coin would be, plus judging by the rarity index of 100, no-one has one in their collection.

Hi Halfdisme,

There is a difference, see the reverse lettering. On www.duiten.nl it is saved as a different entry. I will try to find the catalog numbers.

Cycnos: the first question is done.
The second question, I believe, should be addressed to the referee.
Liards - but these are different references?
About the second coin, just have a look at this topic : https://en.numista.com/forum/topic76945.html

PA# 6151 : CAR . DVX . NIVERNENS . ET . RE / DEI . GR . PRINCEPS . ARCHENSIS
PA# 6152 : CAR . DVX . NIVERNENS . ET . RET / DEI . GR . PRINCEPS . ARCHENSIS
PA# 6153 : CAR . DVX . NIVERNENS . ET . RETH / DEI . GR . PRINCEPS . ARCHENSIS
PA# 6154 : CAR . DVX . NIVERNENS . ET . RETH / DEI . GR . PRINCEPS . ARCHEN

This book gives different references for the variants but we only keep one page per type on Numista, so we should group those references together.
Morever, the first link shows the wrong picture for this variant (PA# 6153 as well).

Salut,

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces64065.html

It seems to be the same coin but made from two different dies : same inscriptions on both sides, but different year (only the place of the "wa" has changed on those pictures).

2)
We need to check those coins too :
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces160785.html
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces22061.html

Seems to be the same type and normally same denomination (there is no big differences between those weights).
Those informations seems to come from cgb. There is probably an error somewhere as some coins are identical but represented in both categories :

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces69252.html << One I posted up
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces152943.html << One someone else put on

Can we please get the second one deleted and then I will amend the first one to include information from the other one.

There were two releases of the same coin, one was in a 30,000 mintage coincard to general sale, and the other was a 5,000 mintage special World Money Fair coincard release.

For the Lorraine, I still think there is a problem : I have one of them and it weights 1,1g for 19mm....
How could we tell if it's a "2 sous" or a "5 liards" if they share the same design, lettering and have the same characteristics ?

If we have look on cgb :
2 sous, 20mm and 1,16g - FLON #3 var
2 sous, 20,5mm and 1,04g - FLON #3 var
2 sous, 20mm, ,98g - FLON #3 var
2 sous, 19mm, 1,08g - FLON #3 var

2 sous, 18,5mm, 0,87g BUT another design and observe lettering - FLON #3
--------------------------------
5 liards, 20mm and 1,17g
5 liards, 20mm and 0,89g
5 liards, 20,5mm and 1,06g
5 liards, 20mm and 1,36g
5 liards, 20mm and 0,97g
5 liards, 19,5 and 1,01g
5 liards, 19mm and 0,87g

Medium size of the 5 liards : 19,85mm
Medium size of the "2 sous - FLON #3 Var" : 19,88mm
Medium weight of the 5 liards : 1,07g
Medium weight of the "2 sous - FLON #3 Var" : 1,05g

The "2 sous - FLON #3 var" of cgb and the 5 liards are the same coins as there are no elements to distinguish them. Same about the one the numista page : https://fr.numista.com/catalogue/pieces160785.html
It is just worn for me (the silver layer doesn't appear anymore) : it's the reason why it has a weight that could match the 2 sous. Regarding its shape, I guess the 18,2mm have been mesured horizontally.

I think the 2 sous is the following coin (FLON #3) : https://www.cgb.fr/lorraine-duche-de-lorraine-leopold-ier-piece-de-2-sous-de-billon-tb-,v48_0530,a.html
- Different coat of arms
- "LEO. I. D. LOT. - ET. BA. RE. IE." instead of "LEOP. I. D. G. D. LOT. BA. REX. IER"

So the pictures and lettering of the numista page are for me incorrect.
Only one member claim to have this coin and there is no date on it (so why having an entry with the year "1700" ?) .
I don't see any catalog references on it to confirm the existence of a "2 sous" that looks like that.

For those reasons, I still this page should be merged with the other one.

Non-Magnetic, Copper-Plated Zinc: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces423.html
Magnetic, Copper-Plated Steel: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces155561.html
While Krause does not give those types different numbers, they are different types as per Numista standards since both have different compositions (one has a steel core and is magnetic while the other has a zinc core and is non-magnetic). So those pages are all good the way they currently are. ;)
As kindly indicated by Numista user MS DOS.
